TL;DR Hair extension cost varies with how much hair you need, the method, and any color work. We set your exact price at a free consultation so you know before you commit. Great Lengths K-tips and hand-tied wefts both include a custom cut and blend. Wefts move up every 6 to 8 weeks.
By Lea, owner at Styling Company
The first thing most people ask me is the price. It's a fair question, and I'd want to know too. The honest answer is that extensions aren't one flat number, and I'd be doing you a disservice if I pretended they were. After doing this since 2004, I've learned that a real quote beats a guess every time.
Why can't you just give me one price?
Because your hair is not the same as the next person's. The cost depends on three things: how much hair you actually need, which method fits your hair, and whether we're doing any color to match or blend. Someone adding a little fullness at the ends pays far less than someone building length and thickness from short hair. Two people can walk in wanting the same look and leave with very different quotes, and that's normal. That's why we set your price at a free consultation, in person, once I can see and feel what you're working with. I'd rather give you a number you can trust than one I have to walk back later.
What goes into the price of extensions?
The hair itself is the biggest piece. We use Great Lengths extensions, and quality hair costs more up front because it lasts and moves like your own. On top of the hair, you're paying for the application time and the artistry. A good install includes a custom cut and blend so nothing looks tacked on. That cut is not an extra; it's the part that makes the whole thing look like your hair, just more of it. I've seen beautiful hair fall flat because it was never blended, and I've seen a modest amount of hair look incredible because the cut was right. The skill is where a lot of the value lives.
K-tips or wefts, does the method change the cost?
Yes, and it comes down to your hair and your goals. Keratin-bond K-tips are placed strand by strand, which takes more time to apply. Hand-tied wefts are sewn in along a track and tend to suit thicker or denser hair. Neither one is automatically cheaper; it depends on how much hair you need and how it's placed. I break down the real differences in K-tips versus wefts if you want to read more before your visit.
What does upkeep cost after the install?
Wefts need to move up every 6 to 8 weeks as your natural hair grows. That move-up is a separate appointment, and it's part of owning extensions, so plan for it. You'll also want proper styling now and then. An extensions blowout with us starts at $46 and keeps the hair looking its best. Good care at home stretches the life of the hair, which protects your investment.
Are extensions worth the money?
For a lot of my clients, yes, because they save time every morning and feel more like themselves. When they're applied and removed correctly, they're gentle on your natural hair. If you're worried about that, I wrote an honest piece on whether extensions are damaging. The short version is that skill matters more than fear here.
How do I find out my exact price?

Good to Know
Is the consultation really free?
Yes. There's no charge to come in, talk through your hair, and get your custom quote. You leave knowing the price before you commit to anything.
How long do Great Lengths extensions last?
The hair itself can last many months with good care. Wefts move up every 6 to 8 weeks as your hair grows, and the hair can often be reused during those move-ups depending on its condition.
Will extensions match my color?
We color-match and blend every install so the extensions look like they grew out of your head. If your natural color needs adjusting first, that color work is factored into your quote.
How much is an extensions blowout?
An extensions blowout starts at $46. It keeps the hair smooth, shiny, and looking freshly done between your regular appointments.
Do you serve towns outside Belmar?
Yes. We're on Main Street in Belmar and see clients from across Monmouth County and the Jersey Shore. Plenty of people drive in from the surrounding towns.
Can I finance or split the cost?
Bring it up at your consultation and we'll talk through your options. The goal is to build a plan that fits both your hair and your budget.
What if I've never had extensions before?
That's most of the people I see. I'll walk you through everything, explain the method that suits you, and make sure you feel comfortable before we start.
When you're ready to get your real number and see what's possible, book your free consultation and let's talk.
